When it comes to creating an award winning (or just personally fulfilling) event, we at DT know it’s all about the event team working tirelessly behind the scenes to make a vision a reality. Today, we’re sharing our personal tips for building an event team that not only does their job but goes above and beyond for your celebration.
Whenever possible, we love local suppliers. That said, sometimes, it just doesn’t work out. A local supplier knows local pricing, has local sources, and can make an event day run smoother. As much as possible, we suggest hiring a local support worker to work with the team to manage language issues, local customs and even sourcing. Together, we create an event that supports the local community as well as being jawdropping.
STAY WELL CONNECTED
Pros that works best together often work together often. If you’ve been perusing magazines or online and the same names keep popping up, connected to one another, it’s often for good reason. Choose a team that knows balance and flow. That gives to each other more than they take. Using complimentary photo/video services ensures no weird camera shots of your video guy in the middle of the ceremony. Using floral designers that work with cake suppliers ensures the cake is decorated beautifully and displayed to it’s fullest potential.
LOOK FOR COLLABORATORS AND NOT RENEGADES
This one is essential. To get the best from all of your vendors you need people who work as a team. No one person is more important than another. The Event Planner may Produce but s/he still needs the Designer to set the stage, the Chef to orchestrate the food, etc.
Every event involves dozens of people working together to create and execute the event vision. Creating a team is more than just choosing “who you like” — these people should be skilled in networking, collaborating and teamwork. Build a strong event team and your event will be Above & Beyond.
